SWEDEN. Carl XIV Johan, 1818-44.

Riksdaler, 1835. Stockholm. Carl XIV Johan was born Jean Bernadotte and served in the French army under Napoleon, who appointed him Marshal of France and later Prince of Pontecorvo. He was elected heir-presumtive of Sweden in 1810 and came to Sweden shortly after, founding the Bernadotte dynasty. Although a common type, it is very rarely seen in EF grade and above. The coin displays fully lustruous surfaces underneath a light layer of pleasant toning. Minute weakness in centre, which is typical of the type. , UNC.
